This file is generated from the same pinned data snapshot the site renders (data repository commit f0b52bd0c2fb734fa4514b9ec0b4184c308a11da), so every count, date and licence line below is the one the pages state. A count is the record count of the published package, not an estimate of the real-world total; each dataset's docs page carries its own coverage note.

Read this file to find a surface; read that one to answer a question without another request.

## Key facts

- Administrative coverage: 69 wilayas, 551 daïras and 1,541 communes, with bilingual names, postal codes, phone codes and official codes. Includes the 11 wilayas established by Law 26-06 (April 2026) and the 10 promoted to full status by Law 19-12 (2019).
- Scale: 80,141 records across the 24 sector datasets listed below, and 82,939 across all 28 published packages. Newest package data: 2026-09-27.
- Languages: English (`en`, unprefixed), French (`/fr`), Arabic (`/ar`, right to left). This file is English only, by llms.txt convention.
- Licences: 5 of the 27 datasets that state terms declare an open licence; the other 22 redistribute ministry-owned or operator-owned records for reference under the terms named on their own docs page. There is no single site-wide data licence, so check the package before reuse. Package code is MIT.
- Flagship licence: the `geoalgeria` package declares no open licence URL. Its terms, as the package states them: Mixed terms per part, stated in full in LICENSE and NOTICE. The compilation of wilayas, dairas, communes, their bilingual names, postal codes and administrative codes is MIT. The 69 wilaya boundary polygons and 251 OpenStreetMap-derived commune centre coordinates are ODbL 1.0, © OpenStreetMap contributors. The mirrored postal data under data/poste: Data © Algérie Poste; redistributed for reference. The package's own NOTICE names which parts fall under which terms. Attribution: GeoAlgeria (https://geoalgeria.com).
- Emergency numbers in Algeria: 14 and 1021 (Protection Civile). GeoAlgeria is a reference atlas; it is never a dispatch, staffing, availability or response-time service.
- Wildfire counting rule: a fire burning across several days is counted on each of those days (`zones`), but only once on the day it was last detected (`zones_ended`). Summing `zones_ended` gives distinct fires over a period; summing `zones` double counts.
- Satellite thermal anomalies are not confirmed fires, and an absence of detections is not evidence of no fire.

## Data provenance

- Every dataset records its sources: the authority, its URL, the date the records were retrieved, and an evidence class (official, crowdsourced or derived). 57 such source records stand behind the datasets in this snapshot.
- Administrative divisions: the Algerian government gazette (Journal Officiel / JORA), the ONS national geographic code, and Algérie Poste for postal codes.
- Sector data: official ministries and public bodies, with OpenStreetMap and Wikidata where a package says so. Which authority backs which record is stated per record, not assumed per dataset.
- Wildfires: NASA FIRMS (VIIRS SNPP / NOAA-20 / NOAA-21) satellite detections, plus the official bulletins of the General Directorate of Civil Protection (DGPC).
